Our Origins

The Story of Samā Hunubi

A Hill Country sanctuary where the environment is crafted for time unhurried, where the land is the story of the Comanche and of Texas. Samā speaks to honor Deities and the Heavens in Japanese and Arabic, Time and Environment in Urdu and Sanskrit — the few moments in eternity we inhabit and the world that shapes us. In the Comanche tongue, Hunubi is the creek — the quiet current that renews the land.

There are places that entertain you, and places that change the way you breathe. Samā Hunūbi belongs to the second kind.

Set in the Texas Hill Country, it is not a place built to compete with nature. It’s a retreat designed to listen to it. Limestone and white oak hold the architecture in calm, low-slung lines. White oak, Cedar and plaster soften every edge. Light moves slowly through shaded thresholds and quiet screens. Nothing is loud. Nothing is rushed. Everything feels deliberate, as if the land itself insisted on restraint. At Samā Hunūbi, time isn’t managed. It’s returned to you.

Evenings settle into firelight and long horizons. The sky opens wide, the stars take their turn, and the Hill Country does what it does best: it reminds you that the world is bigger than your calendar.
